Fritz Feld - The King of Pop
Fritz Feld (October 15, 1900 - November 18, 1993) was a German-American film character actor who appeared in over 140 films in 72 years, both silent and sound. He was Hollywood's favorite "Maître d', His trademark was to slap his mouth with the palm of his hand to create a "pop" sound
The music is "Pop Goes the Weasel" performed by Anthony Newley. It has been edited for time. I highly recommend you seed out the full version, that is about twice as long, and contains Newley's explanation on what the hell this song means!

If you want to watch a GOOD film on Laurel and Hardy try Stan and Ollie - those two guys had them DOWN PAT which is what I WANT when watching a film about THEM !!

It's funny that I first discovered Fritz Feld through this scene with Carl Ballentine in The World's Greatest Lover (1977) where, for a few minutes, you forget it's a Gene Wilder comedy. Then, I was watching The Sunshine Boys again, and there he is again as the best one to audition for the potato chip commercial Willie Clark (Walter Matthau) blows. It was then that I had to look up who he is, and I'm so happy I did.

Poor Ollie. Stan who loved his best friend so much that for the years after Ollie's death and before his own Stan never stopped writing for the two of them as if his old friend was still there. I can't imagine the grief and pain he must have felt knowing he'd not get a laugh from Ollie for his latest works. And not being able to bring them into being like they had done for so long. 10yrs Stan and Ollie spent apart. And Stan and Ollie are together again. Oh how we can only hope their on a big stage somewhere playing sold out shows and have fans rolling in the Isles. The world of comedy just isn't right now. We all miss you Stan and Ollie. Save a seat for me someday.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, it's sad that Moe Howard died right before getting the Three Stooges back in front of the cameras. On the other hand, appearing in this particular film would have been an injustice to the legendary comedy team. Had Moe not been stricken with lung cancer, I think he would have ended up regretting doing this picture.
